What about the real world?

So, you might say, fractal images show the characteristics of complex sequences in the complex plane.
Complex numbers, imaginary numbers, so it is all imagination, right?
Unreal stuff, what about the real world?

Real numbers are a part of the complex numbers, where a real number is written as e.g. (3.14,0.0). Meaning: leaving the second part (imaginary part) of the complex number as zero you get a real number.
In the complex plane the horizontal line with imaginary part zero is the real line, as you are used to it.

In the pictures below the white stripes surround the real line, as emphasis for the real line.

Because the complex plane can be rotated and shifted and leaving the real line on its place, it is possible to show with one complex plane image, an arbitrary number of "real world situations".

One complex image shows many different "real world situations".
This is one advantage of the complex plane, you just see more.
In the real world you just don't see that very often a structure like an apple manikin is the cause for chaotic behaviour.

Take it in a philosophical way: Using imagination (imaginary numbers) you can see what is hidden from the real world (real numbers) ;).
